Counselling

My model

I use an integrative model in my practice which means that I have training and experience of working with several different approaches of counselling. This helps provide a rich resource that can be used to bring understanding and facilitate change within the counselling work. The main approaches that I have trained in and that have formed my model for working are person-centred counselling, transactional Analysis and psycho-dynamic theory.

Eco-therapy

I also offer eco-therapy, which recognises the importance of the natural environment in human health and wellbeing. Through working in the outdoors eco-therapy integrates the natural world as a living partner in the therapeutic work. Alongside several years of experience working as a therapeutic practitioner outdoors, I have also undergone specific training in ecological psychotherapy. I am currently part of the part natural reflections supervision group for advanced outdoor practitioners.

Who I work with

I work with adults and young people over the age of 18 who are seeking support with life and decisions, navigating difficulties, loss and transitions. I have been in practice for over a decade and so have experience of working with many issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, difficult relationships and relationship breakdown, loss, life transitions, parenting and low self-worth.

Ways of working

I work both indoors and outdoors as well as online. My indoor practise is at the Victoria Therapy Centre in Saltaire and my outdoor practice for women is based around Hirst Wood and Shipley Glen - both are close to Saltaire Station and with plenty of free parking available.

To find out more about how I work I have created a number of documents that can be accessed below. These outline in more detail how I practice and what would be good to know if you are interested in working with me.

personal retreats

Retreats are an investment into our life-energy. They are founded on our commitment to move towards, not away from our lives; equipping us with the intention and resources needed to engage with this ever-changing, beautiful world that we are a part of.

The offer

To help guide and support individuals who are wanting to create a reflective retreat through online connective sessions tailored to your needs.

Practicalities

The aim of this service is to work with you where you are at with the resources you have. I therefore meet with individuals online, and your retreat can be anywhere (city or wilderness) and for as little as a day. The only thing that is important is that you can find a space free from your responsibilities and commitments and where you will not feel a constant tugging to put the washing on or send a work email!

Next steps

If you would like to explore this further, I offer a free phone or online consultation which can be booked through the link below.

Fern and ink

A beautifully crafted day of reflection with a focus on creative writing and engaging with nature. The aim of this time is to encourage a slowing down and deeper connection with ourselves, others and the earth. The space is curated and held by John and myself.   John is a published freelance writer, a musician and a research scientist.

The next date we are gathering is hopefully in June this year.
